Description

100% ballpoint pen (Biro)!!! :iconyesyesyesplz:

:eager: This is for :icondisney-club: 's Contest 16 - The Artists :iconsugarhighplz:

The underlying idea of the contest is to draw the people behind Disney films who have most inspired you.

Who are your chosen artists? I chose Ed Catmull, Steve Jobs, and John Lasseter

When were they born? And when did they work for Disney?
Ed was born on March 31, 1945 in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Steve was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California.
John was born on January 12, 1957 in Hollywood, California.
These men are remembered as the driving force behind Pixar Animation Studios.
Pixar began in 1979 under Lucasfilm; it was bought by Steve Jobs in 1986; it has now been owned by The Walt Disney Company since 2006.

What did they do?
1. Started Pixar.
2. Made my favorite movies.
3. Inspire people around the world.

In 2007 Brad Bird said it best:

"All three Pixar founders are smart people who understand the creative process better than anyone. To have one of those guys would be amazing; to have three of them in the same company is a freak of nature. It should be respected in the same way as the Grand Canyon: it happened, nobody knows how it happened, but you've got to be humbled by it."

What do you find inspiring about these artists?
Their drive to give the world the best they can give.

What can every aspiring artist learn from these remarkable men? Perseverance. All of these men have gone through many difficult trials, but they did not give up.

I used this famous photo of them as a reference :pointr: 2.bp.blogspot.com/-lru4_n3bv1Y…
As well as the fantastic caricatures by Teddy Newton found in the wonderful book To Infinity and Beyond! Similar to these :pointr: www.pixartalk.com/wp-content/u… :iconyesyesyesplz:

I have been wanting to draw these guys for a while now and I finally did. :hooray:

While it has been a long time since I have put my Art training to work, I thought I would give it a stab.

I love this piece.

The texture of using only ballpoint pen gives a credit and feeling of the origins of animation. The caricature of the scene also adds to this presentation, thusly showcasing the context of who these people are.

Especially Lasseter, there is "Toy Story" and "The Incredibles" in his face.

The only constructive thing I would like to have added would be greater shadow on the rows of seats as they head into the background. Now as this piece is to be a representation of the original photo, I understand. But I think that it might add more emphasis. (Just a thought)

Otherwise, a grand, truly beautiful work!!
